Wired for Israel
- A Sculpted Tribute -

This school year, we are excited to incorporate famous Israeli artists, their techniques, and styles into our art sessions. By doing so, we aim to encourage students to build deeper connections with Israel through art.

The theme for this year was "Colors of Israel." The students worked with stencils of their Hebrew names to create trays adorned with gemstones and spray paint. Through incorporating symbols of Israel—like doves, pomegranates, and hamsas—their creations reflected their pride in their Jewish identity and love for Israel.

In this session, they learnt about an Israeli artist, Michal Helfman. https://www.helfmanmichal.com/

Michal Helfman (born 1973) is an Israeli multidisciplinary artist known for her integration of sculpture, architecture, video, and drawing. Her work explores the tension between visible and hidden societal forces, often using a "back-stage front-stage" framework. Blending performance and visual art, she creates immersive installations that challenge perception and transformation. Helfman has exhibited internationally, including at the Venice Biennale and the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, and teaches at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design.
